Eileen H. Rosenow, 83, formerly of 1420 Glen Oak St., Dubuque, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Stonehill Care Center.
Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Rev. Daniel Knepper will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Friday August 26 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Hoffmann-Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a prayer service at 4:00 p.m.
Eileen was born January 9, 1928 in Dubuque, the daughter of Adam and Susan (Erschen) List. She graduated from the former St. Joseph Academy in Dubuque. Eileen married Robert Rosenow on September 15, 1951 at St. Mary Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1995.
She was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Dubuque, and was active with the Legion of Mary, the Rosary Society, and was a frequent volunteer at church events. Eileen enjoyed playing cards, and was a member of several card clubs. She also volunteered at Stonehill Care Center.
Eileen was employed as a sales clerk at Younkers Department Store.
She enjoyed meeting friends for lunch, and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Karen (Howie) Meyer of Dubuque; Linda (Mike) Kressig of Dubuque; Jean Rosenow of Fennimore, WI, Carol (Mark) Steger of Dubuque; and Bob (Judy) Rosenow of Epworth; her grandchildren, Lindsey (Ryan Hoffmann) and Meggan (fiancé Tyler Lang) Meyer; Alecia (fiancé Matt Parizek) Rosenow, Laura (Royce Dague) Steger, and Sara, Kelly, and Nick Rosenow; two great grandchildren, Hayley Lang and Adisen Parizek; her sister, Bernadine “Bernie” (Richard) Kalb of Dubuque; her sister in law, Shirley Kendrick of Edgewood, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
