Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Petersburg, IA. Together they farmed for many years near New Vienna before retiring in Dubuque in 1981. He preceded her in death in 1998.
Zita was a long-time active member of St. Boniface Church, New Vienna, and a devoted member of Resurrection Church. She enjoyed assisting with parish events, and cherished the relationships formed there. Among her many interests were gardening, entertaining, dancing, cross-stitching, and playing cards. Family events and seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her great pleasure.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, James (Marilyn) Lansing of Dubuque, Carol (John) Rolwes of Farley, Betty Dunn, Grace (Arlyn) Wernke and Doris (Bill) McDermott, both of Dubuque, Dave (Karen) Lansing of Maui, HI, Mark (Suzanne) Lansing, and Lola (Dan) Coble, both of Dubuque. She will be greatly missed by her 24 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Jenny Conrad and Mildred Schlichte of Dyersville, Donna Juran of Edgewood, and Sr. Marian Klostermann, OSF of Dubuque.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Carl; her granddaughter, Jennifer Wernke; two sisters, Helen Wessels and Dorothy Olberding; her brothers, Everett and Walter Klostermann; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, a Zita M. Lansing Memorial Fund has been established.
The family expresses gratitude to the staff at Sunset Park Retirement Community, Hospice of Dubuque, the special Resurrection “church ladies”, Jim Manor and her Hacienda neighbors for their kindnesses over the years.
